How to remove seat & seat car from track on Huki Outrigger Canoes: always wear protactive goggles and gloves.

  1. Slide seat all the way aft (rear) on it's track until it stops.
  2. Slide the white rod aft until it stops (this is usually only an eighth of an inch).
  3. Untie the knot at the front end of the seat cord.
  4. Grabbing the white rod at its mid point in the track, pull up on the rod, pulling aft as you pull up. This takes a very strong hand and fingers and may require that you use your second hand to press the front end of the rod aft as you pull up.
  5. Once bowed and lifted about two inches from straight, the front end of the rod with "POP!" out of the end of the track. Be careful not to get your face close.
  6. Slide the seat & seat car assy forward and off of the white rod.
  7. Pull the rod forward about an inch until it comes out of the track. Your seat is now completely off.

How to re-install seat & seat car onto the track on Huki Outrigger Canoes: always wear protactive goggles and gloves.

  1. Slide the white seat rod into the rear hole of the track trough or groove, and bottom it out all the way into the hole.
  2. Slide the seat & seat car assy onto the rod from the front end, all the way back until it stops.
  3. Hold the rod firmly at it's mid point, and with your other hand press the front end of the rod downward towards the hole at the front end of the track groove, causing the rod to bow sharply.
  4. Guide the end of the bowed rod into the hole at the end of the track groove, and then release the rod.
  5. If the rod doesn't snap straight, then firmly press down on the bow until it seats into both holes fully, and reforms itself into a straight rod.
  6. Restring the cord through the loop in the jam-cleat and tie a knot in the end. Your seat is now back on.
